My King Room with Balcony was 33 sqm, bright, clean, and airy, with simple, practical furnishings. The private balcony was my favourite part, with open views over the low-rise neighbourhood and a nice spot for morning coffee or Saigon's sunset glow. The ensuite bathroom also felt new and well designed, with grey tiles, a glass shower, wall-mounted sink, mirror cabinet, and an electric heater that gave consistent hot water. The room had a split air conditioner and a Senko standing fan, which was handy if you prefer natural ventilation. Storage was more limited: there was a simple white clothes rack instead of a wardrobe, which may be enough for light packers but not ideal for a longer stay. A full-size two-door fridge was a welcome extra, and there was a metallic kettle for tea or coffee. Housekeeping left two complimentary Dasani 350 ml bottles each day. The wall-mounted TV had streaming apps, and the small round table worked for light laptop use, though I would have liked a proper desk. I asked Ms. Lê for another table and she gladly arranged one. The peaceful, safe-feeling part of Thảo Điền suited me, with a distinctly local feel and plenty of quiet away from downtown. Some people may find it too quiet or a little far from the main attractions. The street was mostly calm, but the shared laundry area was right outside my door, and guests sometimes ran the washing machine late at night. Laundry is self-service and complimentary, in theory from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., though I often found it occupied by hotel linens. When I asked, Ms. Lê quickly had housekeeping clear it, but the occasional late-night use still disturbed the quiet. Rooms are reached by stairs, with no lift, so keep that in mind if you have heavy or large luggage. I didn't meet the owner, Sophia. Her manager, Ms. Lê, was friendly and professional, and we mostly communicated on WhatsApp. Her English was good and she handled check-in smoothly. She was more practical than warm, which was fine by me. For my full review, check out my video diary in my YouTube channel - vonmeetsworld.
