AiLee Villa & Hotel Tamcoc

The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was good. That's why I gave this two stars rather than one. But at 1.5 million VND (55 euros) a night, I expected much better. In my opinion, 20-30 euros would be more reasonable. It feels like an overpriced Instagram tourist trap. The booking photos make it look like a new luxury resort, but our room seemed unfinished, run-down, and poorly planned. There was dampness in the walls, no hot water in the bathtub, nowhere to dry towels, and the kettle was in a closet with no outlet and no table to set it on. The pool was green, so we couldn't use it. There was also a lot of noise. If I'm staying outside town for peace and quiet, I expect it to be quiet. The place was far too expensive for what we got.

The view around this family-run villa and hotel is lovely, and the room felt fair for the price. It's not far from the city center, and they can rent you a bike or motorbike. The staff were so sweet, welcoming, and professional. I'd come back!

The staff were super friendly, and the breakfast buffet was simple but delicious. Bike rentals are easy, and town isn't a far walk. It's also a handy place to spend the rest of the day after checking out if you're waiting for a night bus. A couple of small things could be better: the pool chairs are hard wood and uncomfortable, and cushions would help. Blackout curtains would be useful too.

The garden and mountain view rooms are the ones I'd pick, rather than rooms facing the pool. We also liked having the indoor bathtub for two. A tub with a view sounds nice, but you're swatting bugs while trying to enjoy wine with your cuddle buddy. This was the most surprising and amazing stay we had in Tam Coc. The property is thoughtfully designed and built, the surroundings are peaceful, and the six-minute bike ride into town is easy.
