Newway Homestay

The owners were incredibly kind when I arrived from the south without warm clothes. The temperature change was a real struggle, so they lent me a spare jacket to take along to Sapa and Hanoi, and said I didn’t need to return it. I thought that was such a generous thing to do. I’m from New Zealand and stayed four nights, from 16-19 March. My room was very clean and had everything I needed for the price. Breakfast was light, and Tam Coc town, Trang An, and Hang Mua were all reachable by bicycle. It was a lovely family, and I enjoyed chatting with them about life and other things. I’d happily stay here again if I came back. All the best to your family, and thanks again.

They even let us shower after checkout, which was a lifesaver before our sleeper bus. The staff were really kind and helpful, and everything was clean. It was excellent value for the money. We used the laundry service, but not the motorbike rental, since we found cheaper options nearby. The only downside was that the beds were a little uncomfortable.

The owners were so friendly and helpful, and the service was great. We stayed two nights at Newway Homestay. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, and breakfast was a very nice light meal. Tam Coc is fairly close by bicycle or motorbike.

The room was the main problem for us. Room 204 looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time: dust everywhere, spiderwebs on the walls, cockroaches we had to chase and smash, and dirt, animal droppings, and previous guests’ trash behind the bed. The old spring mattresses were awful too. You could feel every spring, so getting a decent night’s rest was hard. This place has potential, but it needs much better upkeep. The homestay is run by a nice couple with a child. With a motorbike, the location is convenient, about ten minutes from Mua Cave and Bich Dong pagoda, though walking around may be less comfortable. During our stay, renovations were underway, with work going on roughly from 6 am to 5 pm. The noise woke us very early and was unpleasant. The landlady apologized and discounted one night, which we appreciated.
