Sierra Homestay

We had a clean room with a great mountain view, and the welcoming family helped us get settled early when we arrived at 9am. They also explained what there is to do in Ninh Binh. You can rent a scooter or get bus tickets directly from them. We really enjoyed our three nights and would come back if we get the chance. Thanks again 🙏🏼

Tan and his family made us feel welcome from the start. We arrived at 4am on the night bus, and they let us into our room and gave us bananas. Tan also shared a map of local attractions, explained the prices, and helped us decide where to go and when. We rented a scooter from him at a very reasonable price, and he arranged a taxi to the airport for a good rate. Our double room overlooked the mountain and had a balcony. It was lovely, with a comfortable bed, a good bathroom, and daily tidying. The homestay restaurant was closed because they’d recently had a new baby, which was a shame, but Tan knew other places to eat and gave us great recommendations. There was plenty of room for our family of four and all eight pieces of luggage, with two queen beds in the room. Our host knew a lot about nearby places to visit and had a wide selection of homemade rice wine. It was the best I’ve tried, with none of that burning feeling on the way down. A lovely family and a very accommodating host.

You’ll need transport here. It’s a cute village, but the nearest restaurants and shops are a 20-minute walk away, and there are no bicycles to use. There’s no breakfast, either. The family is kind and the little kids are adorable, but during our four nights no cleaning was offered. We basically got a bed and they took the money, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
