The private bathroom earns the two stars. The room was very damp even with the heater, fan, and air conditioning running, and the window wouldn’t shut. When I raised it, the only answer was “I’ll do my best,” with no real fix. The welcome may be warm, but that doesn’t solve the problem. It’s far from everything, and there wasn’t much else to recommend it. My Booking reservation had no fridge or TV. Wi-Fi was there, but I’d rely on mobile data instead. Staff service varied depending on who you met. Meals were available, though an occasional smell from the kitchen put me off trying them.

I booked Tam Coc Guesthouse and Hostel for an extra night in Ninh Binh after leaving another hotel, and was pleasantly surprised. For much less, I had a private room and bathroom that were clean, with a good shower and everything I needed. They also lend bikes for free, which was a great bonus. It’s not a place for a view or fancy facilities, but it’s a comfortable, clean budget option I’d recommend.

Free bikes made it easy to get around, and the staff arranged shuttles to other places at very fair prices. The breakfast was good, and our basic room was clean and had what we needed. For the overall cost, the value is excellent. It wasn’t perfect, but it’s a solid place to stay.

The staff were the highlight, really proactive and helpful. They booked us a bus at what seemed like a good price compared with online, and let us shower before our 8pm departure. Breakfast was good, and the clean, spacious, functional room had a comfortable bed. We could use bikes for free, which was great for exploring Tam coc. The place is outside the main part of tam coc, with some good local restaurants in walking distance that were better priced than the center. Very good experience for the price, I’d highly recommend it.

The staff were extremely friendly and agreed to all our requests. We could get laundry done at convenient times, and book a bus to another city or rent a bicycle or motorbike, all for a very good price. The room was comfortable and cheap too. Honestly, it was unbelievable how good the service was.
