The Vissai Hotel

The hotel has the feel of an ancient castle, while still offering all the latest amenities. The staff were great and made every effort to accommodate our 2 AM check-in. Special thanks to Nguyen Hai from the Housekeeping department and the security staff.

A very bad hotel and a horrible experience. There was hardly any breakfast spread, and because there were so few guests, they refused eggs, omelets, and even bread. Mosquitoes were flying around the uncovered butter, sugar, and pastries. I suggest nobody book a stay here.

The location worked well for us, with a supermarket right next door and easy, free Wi-Fi. Our room was quiet, with lots of TV channels and air conditioning that kept it cool in the boiling heat. The view faced a sports stadium and swimming pool, though we didn’t use either during our couple of nights there. Breakfast had plenty of good choices. Room service was a letdown, though, with a very small selection. At least they had french fries, which made my daughter happy. Drinks were available to take, but I was surprised to be asked to pay for one. The room itself was quite clean, but it smelled awful of smoke. The hotel looks clean and upscale, if a bit dated, and the old Mercedes in the foyer made a great impression. I wished I could take it with me. They advertise it as five-star, but I’m not sure it earns that. There wasn’t much to see or do nearby, though it’s a decent place to stay if you’re taking a tour. I’d probably come back next time. I’d give it around 3-4 stars, and it was a lot cleaner than other hotels we’ve visited.

Breakfast was great, and they brought cake to our room when we arrived. We were there during Tet, so the hotel was quiet. They were also kind enough to move our motorcycles from out front to underground parking for security. The room was clean, but the hotel feels dated, particularly the bathroom scaling. At $100 a night, I expected it to be perfect. You can find better value for the price elsewhere.
