Mango Garden Homestay

The host was lovely, and the room was cleaned with fresh towels each day. The shower takes ages to warm up, but then gets properly hot. Water is very cheap to buy from the host, and there’s a little shop nearby. We had a very good stay.

At checkout, we had to insist before receiving roughly 15% off the total, even after explaining how badly we’d slept with flying insects in the room and bed. Earlier, around 8pm, we’d found an insect nest in a hole in the wall behind a chair and asked to move rooms. The request was refused. Maintenance only partly sealed the gap in the wall, and bigger bugs then came in through the skirting board. The place itself is nice, and the host is lovely in some ways, but came across as lazy and lacking empathy. This could have been avoided if they’d taken the time to prepare another room when we asked at a reasonable hour. I hope the one-star review gets the owners to improve things for future guests. With a better response, this could have been four stars.

They make the bed and replace the towels daily. The twin room has comfortable beds, reliable hot water in the shower, and good air conditioning.

The owner was pleasant and helpful, and arranged tours and shuttles without pushing them on us. The location worked well for me: it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the edge of the town centre, or a quicker ride on a Grab bike for only about 20 VND. There are several shops and restaurants nearby, though some people may want to stay closer to town. My room was clean, had AC and a roomy bathroom, and was perfectly decent.
