For £10 we got a double room with what we needed, and the staff were very friendly. They arranged the cheapest bike rental we had in Vietnam and also got our luggage transferred to another city while we continued on scooters. I’d stay here for a night or two. The five stars are really in the context of the hostel choices.

The bed was awful, flat and rock hard, like sleeping on the floor. When we did finally stay, we also had to carry all our bags up five flights of stairs ourselves, and the owner came across as hostile. Bad vibes. On arrival, despite having booked online ahead of time, we were told they’d overbooked and couldn’t take us that night. They asked us to spend a night at a hotel down the road and move back the next morning, which was a huge hassle when we only had one sightseeing day. I wouldn’t stay again.

The owner was cheerful and friendly, and the room was clean and pleasant. A large room costs about 350; I haven’t checked whether they have single rooms. There’s no car parking and no elevator, but it’s right in the center, near the central hospital and walking street.
