Eden Hue Hotel

The hotel is centrally placed, near the walking street, river, restaurants, and bars. Our room was clean, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. For a cheap stay, it’s suitable if you’re fine with basic service and little attention to detail. There was a lot of traffic noise and honking late into the night, and hallway conversations carried right into the room. The mattress had a plastic cover that crinkled whenever we moved. The small, crowded breakfast area meant bumping into people, the buffet food was cold or barely warm, and the toaster was terrible. You won’t get some of the small services at pricier hotels either. For example, you have to refill the supplied water bottles in the lobby. We had no hot water the first night. Staff didn’t want to move us, and after they fixed it, we got about two minutes of hot water before it turned freezing again. The elevator was out on day one, which wasn’t a big deal for us without luggage, but would be awful if you had bags. Daily housekeeping just made the bed and replaced towels, without cleaning anything else. If those little details matter to you, this probably isn’t the place.

I spent about two weeks in a Superior room facing the river, and it was quiet and peaceful. Everyone on the hotel staff, including reception, was so welcoming and friendly. They even surprised me with a birthday treat, which was really thoughtful. Breakfast was amazing. I don’t eat pork, and the chef kindly made vegetarian or seafood options for me. Some of the best breakfast I had in Hue.

The river-view room was lovely and quiet, and the location is good. Reception staff were great, and breakfast was adequate. They offer free sparkling water, and the receptionist speaks English well. I’ll make this my regular hotel in Hue.

Breakfast was the standout for me. They put real effort into the dishes, and it beats the boring breakfasts at Western hotels by a mile. The crepes and meatballs were banging. Staff were excellent, like at the other Vietnamese hotels I’ve visited. The rooms were really clean and modern, more so than at most hotels. It’s right in the city center, though I’d dock a star because our room was too close to another building. Great job, guys.
