SH Homestay

We paid 73€ for two nights, 2.3 million Dong, which is unbelievable for this rat hole. The building is run down, the walls are moldy, and the place was dirty and smelled bad. The doors wouldn't lock, there was no hot water, and once the bathroom door was shut all the way, you couldn't open it from inside without someone else opening it from outside. We found several big cockroaches in the room. The AC didn't work at first, so we had to fix it ourselves. Calling this a hotel is a stretch. I'd have had no complaint paying 8€ for two nights, but charging this much feels like daylight robbery. Avoid it, even if you have to pay more elsewhere. Staying in this hole for vermin isn't worth it.

We booked through Agoda, but when we arrived the owner had no room for us and sent us to another hotel. That hotel was fine, though he didn't seem to care much. The next day, he flat-out refused to let us pay by card at checkout, even though Agoda listed credit cards as accepted. He got very agitated when we challenged him and eventually took our luggage. We ended up paying cash even though we didn't want to. Avoid!

It's a good choice for backpackers or anyone trying to keep accommodation costs down. The hotel is on a pleasant, quiet street near Hue's historical center, and the staff are very helpful. They offer city tours, which are worth considering if you're short on time and want to see the main sights. My only issue was some small ants in the room that got into my pizza overnight. Given the price, I can't complain otherwise.
