Hachi Homestay & Spa

I came to Huế to get away, think, read, and write rather than explore, and Hachi suited that perfectly. It was green, still, minimalist, and peaceful, and I’d definitely return. I spent 3 nights in the 8pax dorm, and it was smooth, easy, and cozy. The dorm rate was affordable, though there was a 20% service fee because I stayed during holiday season. Staff were kind and looked after guests with tea and water. I got around by GrabBike since I didn’t have a bike. I could book GrabBike and GrabCar easily, and even order Grab delivery, so the old comments about it being hard to get Grab didn’t match my experience. There’s a mini bar where you can order drinks, plus a water refill station and hot water. Reusable cups are available to borrow, but I’d bring a water bottle to keep in the dorm. I didn’t use the kitchen, though I did use a bowl and spoon when my delivered food arrived without a bowl. Just clean up after yourself and respect the shared space.

The coffee and tea were good, and mostly free, which seemed to be because even the staff felt bad about how much you pay for such a poor stay. The AC barely worked, the bed was really hard, the price was high, and the location was far. Everything felt humid and damp. I don’t see this as a homestay. I had no idea who the owner was, and there was no dinner with them, which I thought was the whole point of a homestay. It’s not a spa either. They just send a masseuse to your room, with no steam bath or sauna. The pool looked dirty and seemed to be there for Instagram, so nobody got in. There was no hand soap, hairdryer, or comb, and I had to ask for an iron. Please don’t be swayed by all the positive reviews.

Hachi has a lovely design and good equipment, with a strong Hue feel, and the staff were super friendly and kind. They checked in whenever needed. It’s set in a peaceful little village, though quite far from the city center. A very chill place to stay.

I came here to get through the rain, and it turned into a really lovely stay. The architecture is amazing, the people were so nice, and the shared room was neat and comfortable. I also made a new friend, the very cute dog.
