Farmstay Ban Bua

The hot pot was delicious, and the owners were kind and attentive. We stayed three days and found the room surprisingly good for the low price: fully furnished and cool enough that we didn’t need air conditioning. The grounds are a chayote and strawberry garden, so in season you can pick plenty without going far. It’s peaceful and spacious, with fresh air and a chubby, gentle dog that didn’t bite. The place sits deep in the village, and the winding road makes getting around a bit difficult, though manageable. There was no Wi-Fi during our stay because the owner said the router was broken, so we used 4G. It may have been fixed by now. For the price and service, I had no complaints. Wishing the owners continued success!

The hillside room looked out over a strawberry field, and the whole area was peaceful. The owner was friendly and enthusiastic, and even brought us firewood for an evening bonfire. We had a wonderful stay.

The food was delicious, especially the grilled beef tripe, which is well worth trying. They also serve fermented wine that doesn’t leave you feeling tired. Sitting by the grill with a glass on a chilly evening was lovely. The meals are prepared by a couple from the village. Mr. Hung was very enthusiastic and did his best to meet guests’ needs. There’s a vegetable garden where visitors can harvest. When I went, it only had cabbage and tomatoes, so the season probably makes a difference to what you’ll see. The farmstay is tucked deep in the village and very quiet. Guests can choose a communal stilt house or a private room. There are four rooms in two houses, but the soundproofing is poor, so anyone wanting privacy should rent an entire house. I hope Mr. Hung invests in the place more systematically to improve the experience. I’d like to return when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.

I was unsure about booking because there weren’t many reviews, but I was really pleased once I arrived. The owner was kind and enthusiastic, and even though I visited during a holiday, the price was very reasonable. It’s a spacious, quiet place about 2km from the city center. There’s a chayote and strawberry garden too, though sadly I was there out of season.
