Mekong My Tho Hotel

There’s a pretty pond and garden in front of the hotel, where women, ladies, and children dance in the evenings. It’s very close to the Tien Giang river and in the center of My Tho, with plenty of nearby coffee shops and food stalls. The My Tho Mekong Hotel is rated four stars. Our room was clean and spacious.

Some rooms don’t have enough shower pressure, so check yours as soon as you arrive.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and coffee, but didn’t stay at the hotel. The receptionist was friendly and gave me useful information. The cafe in front has a range of drinks and coffee. The staff there don’t speak English, and know only a little Chinese. Non-guests can’t use the hotel facilities, including the pool and tennis court.

Breakfast had something for everyone, and the food we ordered was delicious, though it contained MSG and I’m sensitive to it. There are plenty of restaurants and a great cafe nearby. The staff were relaxed and seemed keen to serve us well. We also enjoyed the pool and tennis court, while the garden cafe was pleasant apart from mosquitoes that could spoil the experience. We stayed three nights as a family with small kids, in a twin deluxe room. It had two large, comfortable beds and a lovely view, plus a kettle and a reasonably priced minibar. The bathroom had all the amenities except a hairdryer. The kids liked the bathtub, but there was a bad smell, as the tiles needed cleaning with bleach. We enjoyed our stay because our expectations were clear.
