Rang Dong Hotel

The photos speak for themselves. The receptionist was kind, but that doesn’t excuse the state of the rooms. My advice is to stay away. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. There were nauseating smells in both the room and bathroom, signs and smells of mould, and stained sheets and curtains. I didn’t even try to sleep there and was relieved not to have caught scabies. There was no toilet paper, and cleaning was barely done or not done at all. This wasn’t just a quality issue, it was about cleanliness.

The room was appallingly dirty, and both the service and amenities were poor. It was such a disappointment. I wouldn’t give this place even one star, but the review form requires one. Stay far away.

Tamatabi 20240205 I travel by bicycle and like to stay at cheap hotels, but the room still has to be clean. I paid 300K for a twin room here. It’s a very old hotel, though it’s the cheapest place around. From the third floor you can see the river, which is nice. Have a nice trip.

Don’t stay here. They don’t wash the sheets between customers. We arrived around midnight, tired, because Google Maps showed the hotel by the river. I usually read reviews but didn’t bother this time. The receptionist was nice and said he’d recently moved there, so didn’t know much about the area, but he gave us some tour tips. We paid 310vnd for a third-floor room and went upstairs. The open layout on each floor, with windows and a sitting area to enjoy the river, looked beautiful. Then we saw the room. There was a mattress in the hallway, which made us check ours. Lifting a corner of the fitted sheet revealed mould and dust under the bed, and mould on the wooden frame. A couple of unidentified bugs were on top of the mattress. Under another corner of the sheet was a hand-sized cluster of orange fungus that looked like it had been growing for a while. If they cleaned after every guest, surely it wouldn’t have been missed. The soap was worn down to a flat circle, like it had been used for months. The remote batteries were dead. I’d turned on the AC before checking for bedbugs. The bed was so disgusting that we didn’t ask for another room. If the sheets weren’t being cleaned, what else was being left dirty? I felt sick and wanted to vomit. I should have taken pictures, but I was too disgusted and just had to get out. It was a disgusting disappointment, and a disgrace to let people sleep there. It’s a shame, because we’d never had this problem in Vietnam. It was hard to tell the receptionist we couldn’t stay because the bed was dirty, especially after he’d been so nice. We told him he could look if he wanted. The awkward part wasn’t telling him what happened, it was him asking whether we’d turned out the lights. It was an eye-opener: he didn’t seem to care or feel embarrassed, though he did apologize. It put a real damper on our night, but we found a clean hotel for less afterward. Don’t get mixed up in that mess.
