The staff were polite and helpful, but the room was just average. I found insects and mosquitoes in there. The hot water was only warm, apparently because it came from a solar heater.

The hotel being right opposite the airport bus stop was useful, and the bus costs much less than a taxi. Otherwise, it was much worse than I expected. It felt old and not clean at all, and despite being listed as a 2 stars hotel, it wasn’t that good.

Merlion hotel was good value for the price, and you can walk to the ocean from there. I had a lovely two day stay and would stay again for the value.

It’s well placed for the beach and all the interesting areas nearby. The rooms could use updating, but they were clean, and the staff were friendly.

Merlion is permanently closed. I booked it, but ended up staying at a nearby hotel.
