I’d book here again if I could get the same low price I paid this time. The hotel was fine overall, and for a budget five-star place that’s been around a while, the lower price made sense to me. Hotel star ratings are based on facilities, not how luxurious the rooms are, which some reviewers seem to miss. My room was clean, fairly large for the price, and had great air conditioning. The bed was soft by Western standards. The rooftop was nice, though it got crowded at certain times. The central location made it easy to find food and get to the beach. There were plenty of elevators, and I rarely waited more than a minute. A few things were less convenient. The room doors don’t close by themselves, so you need to check that yours is shut before leaving. I stayed a week, and staff only knocked when I put out the sign asking for cleaning. The room was mostly quiet, but I could hear water running when the people next door showered. The TV was large but old and had no smart features. I was sick for much of my stay and would have appreciated being able to watch Netflix. I’d bring my own shampoo and body wash too. The shampoo smelled like an ashtray, and I even opened the dispenser to check whether someone had put cigarettes in it. That was just how the shampoo smelled. Breakfast was decent, though after seeing people behave like wild animals at the buffet on the first day, I started ordering breakfast on Grab instead. The Wi-Fi was fast but unstable, especially in the early morning and evening. I wasn’t asked for a cash or passport deposit as an EU citizen, though I saw other guests getting their passports and money back at checkout. It seemed to depend on nationality. From what I saw of some guests, especially when they were drunk at the hotel, I understand why the hotel might have that policy for them. That’s just based on the pattern I noticed.

The rooftop pool view was amazing, and in the cold, very windy weather I had the pool to myself. The water was clean, and breakfast was good value. Regalia Hotel is right in the city center, so I’d consider staying here again. I’d told them ahead of time that I’d be checking in late, and there were no problems. The room was decent overall, but the window was very small. Checkout took a while because of the verification process. I waited about 15 minutes, then left my luggage and asked staff to let me know if anything came up while I was away. For my short half-night stay, I used Lotte Mart’s pre-booked delivery service to have bottled water and gifts brought to the hotel. It was handy to have the bottled water, even for brushing my teeth.

The breakfast buffet is the weakest part of Regalia Gold Hotel. The coffee had no taste, the bread and pastries were average except for the choux à la crème, and the cheese wasn’t real cheese. As a French person, I can say that confidently. The bacon was mostly plain fat rather than proper crispy bacon, the sausages were poorly prepared, and the Vietnamese dishes were acceptable but not great. The egg station was okay, but understaffed, so waits were long. Juices came from cans rather than being fresh, which I don’t think is acceptable for a hotel showing five stars, especially with pineapple and mango so abundant in Vietnam. The yogurt was good, but there were usually only about three fruit options. Breakfast is the first thing guests experience each day, and it should be memorable in a good way, rather than just okay. The other major frustration was the one-key-card policy. We had one card for the room, which was inconvenient when my wife was resting and didn’t hear me knocking for several minutes, and later when our son joined us. One card for three people made no sense. I understand saving energy, but guests’ convenience should come first. At least two cards per room are necessary. The hotel needs to fix breakfast and this policy for long-term business in a city with so many hotel choices. Even with those issues, we had a very good stay and I’d happily return soon. We came as a family, with my parents in one room and my wife, adult son, and me in another. We booked through Agoda during New Year 2026 for two nights, then extended by six more. We booked a small room but got upgraded; it was large, clean, and comfortable. The bed, pillows, and comforter were excellent for a good night’s rest. The bathroom was spacious, and the TV had enough channels to pass the time in bad weather. We preferred the location to beachfront hotels. Step outside and you’re in everyday Vietnam, with local activity, shops, and food around you, instead of a large road separating a hotel from the beach and little else nearby. There were many 24/7 food spots downstairs and around the hotel, with plenty of choices at very affordable prices, much cheaper than in neighboring countries. The beach was about a five-minute walk, and the walk was enjoyable. Just watch when crossing: cars sometimes stop, but motorbikes almost never do. The front desk staff were efficient and handled our requests properly. They could be better at smiling and speaking English, though that felt more like a hospitality training issue than an attitude problem. Vietnamese people are generally straightforward and efficient, and a little more warmth would make the experience even better. The hotel remains excellent value for money.

The rooftop pool is stunning, and there’s a gym, spa, and bar up there for drinks and food. It’s open in the evening too, so you can sit with a drink and look out over the city lights. The hotel is right in central Nha Trang, with very comfortable beds and brilliantly clean rooms. Staff were kind and attentive, and cleaned the room every day.

The rooftop pool is probably the hotel’s saving grace. It looked stunning and the view was amazing, though it was too cold for me to swim. For what you pay it might be okay, but don’t expect five stars. The location was great, with easy access to places around Nha Trang. I’d read lots of good reviews and expected more from a hotel advertised as five-star. To me it felt closer to three and a half stars. Check-in was easy, though reception weren’t especially warm or welcoming. The room was my main problem. It felt old and dated, and nowhere near what I expected from a five-star hotel. The bathroom was tiny, the lighting dim, and the towels thin. There was only one roll of cheap, hostel-like toilet paper, and when it ran out, we had to call reception for more. The shampoo and body wash smelled cheap too. We booked a king bed but got two single beds pushed together. The duvet was in the wardrobe instead of on the bed, so we had to make it ourselves. There was even a list of every item in the room, down to the coffee mugs, with a price for breaking each one. At check-in, they handed us rules and fines rather than giving us a warm welcome or explaining things like the Wi-Fi. You only get one room key, and have to pay if you want another. It felt like the hotel was trying to do everything as cheaply as possible. And the breakfast was the worst part. It was inedible, cold, dry, and really disgusting.
