The Summer Hotel

We stayed for a week as a family of three, two adults and one child, and would happily recommend the hotel. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and fresh towels and toiletries were provided every day. The location was excellent. At breakfast, the café team greeted us warmly, and the reception ladies were lovely throughout our stay, especially Chi and Y Nguyen. Everyone was friendly, and most of the staff spoke good English. We liked The Summer Hotel enough that we would consider staying again, but there are a few things other travelers should know. We wanted to use the pool, though the green algae or staining along its edge put us off. Our room, 410, was near the AC condenser units at the end of the corridor, and the noise was loud. At night it measured around 55 decibels by the bed. We used earplugs during our three nights and didn't ask to move, but for a longer stay we would have. I attached a floor plan, which I assume is similar on each floor. Light sleepers should avoid those rooms or bring good earplugs. The first room we were given, 511, had a leaking AC unit. Water ran down the wall and into the electrical outlet below, and my wife got an electric shock. We reported it to the kind receptionist, who offered to have someone fix it. We declined because we weren't confident a repair would make it safe long term. To us, the outlet placement under the AC is a design problem. Leaking units aren't unusual, but this setup was unsafe. We asked for and received another room. See the attached pictures. We don't know whether any of this has since been fixed, so we're leaving the review to alert other travelers.

The Summer Hotel is good value for money, even with some drawbacks. My modern basic double was cramped, though the bathroom was very nice. The shower sprayed horizontally, which made it awkward to use. There was little room in either the room or bathroom to hang damp clothes, and the air conditioner blowback made the corridor to my room feel like a sauna during the day. At night, traffic and a low mechanical noise made sleeping difficult. The hotel has just one elevator for the top five floors, so waits can be long, a problem I find in nearly every modern Nha Trang hotel. On the plus side, it's clean and modern, with comfortable common areas and a nice rooftop pool. The location in Nha Trang is as good as it gets. Staff were helpful, friendly, and competent, and breakfast was an excellent buffet with a menu that changed.

The pool area upstairs was quiet, with plenty of space to relax. I slept well, and the location was good. The room felt a bit dated, but the bed was comfortable. Mornings were noisy: you could hear service staff moving equipment, and noise from people showering in the next room came through. Breakfast choices were limited.
