Zenia Boutique Hotel Nha Trang

The reception team were friendly and helpful from check-in through check-out, and the central location made it easy to find restaurants, malls, and other places. The hotel isn't new, but our room was fine. Breakfast runs from 6:30-9:30 am. There's a small gym, a pool that closes at 8/9 pm, and steam and sauna hours from 4-5 pm. Housekeeping was frustrating. Soap and tissues ran out, and even when the room was serviced, they weren't checked or refilled, so I had to tell reception. Used coffee cups and glasses also stayed after cleaning, even into the next day, until I reported it again. A staff member eventually brought replacements. I could smell cigarette smoke in the hallway and elevator, and sometimes in the room too. I don't know where it came from or how it got in. If you're allergic or dislike cigarette smells, I wouldn't recommend staying here. I also found a Paederus (rove beetle) in my room. I was scared and worried there might be more, since it can irritate the skin.

I've been here for 10 days and the team has made a tremendous impression, from the front desk and dining staff to housekeeping and security. After 55 years in hospitality, I can say they're well trained and professional, always smiling and keen to please. The complimentary breakfast is exceptional, and the people serving it are great too. The location is perfect for the beach, shopping, or dining while avoiding the tourist scene. I'm booked for a month and may stay a second. Zenia has become my new home when I'm in Nha Trang.

We were incredibly disappointed and won't return. The rooms are cramped enough that we kept banging our shins on the bed and desk. The bathroom smelled like urine, all the bath towels were yellowed and frayed, and the sheets were stained, including with blood. Housekeeping only made the bed and took out trash, with no fresh shower floor towels, vacuuming, or mopping. There was no shower cap or iron and ironing board. The AC kept shutting off during the night and left a mildew smell. In one of our two rooms, the controls were in Russian and impossible to understand. In the other, a warning said the filter needed cleaning. When we mentioned it, the maintenance man cleared the message with a couple of button presses and said the mildew wasn't from the AC. A window in the middle of the shower also let neighboring guests see straight in. Neither gym treadmill worked, one was missing the start button where there was a hole, and the other wouldn't turn on. The hotel's rating seems inaccurate to me. I'd put it closer to 2.6 than 4 stars.

The woman at reception gave us a free upgrade on one of our rooms, which was a nice touch. It was a good hotel for the price. Bad reviews in Vietnam can be worrying, but our experience showed us those reviews weren't true.
