Nostress Guest House

The garden is beautiful, and I’ve stayed here twice. It’s cheap and cheerful, though not luxurious and kind of dirty. The caretaker is odd but seems well meaning. There’s a very reliable motorbike rental in the alley leading to Nostress.

The little patio outside the room gives you a sense of how beautiful the place is. The air conditioned rooms look lovely and were neat and clean. For what you pay, you get three times the value. One of the best resorts I’ve stayed at, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The owner was kind, which is the only positive I can mention. There was mold on the walls and ants all over. We had no hot water and weren’t given soap. The place felt very unsanitary, and I’d recommend avoiding it.

It’s a cheap little guesthouse near the beach, just off the main strip with shops and restaurants. We only managed one night here and wouldn’t return or recommend it. The room doors open onto an overgrown garden, which got very loud at night with animal noises. The doors didn’t seal, either, and we woke up with lots of mosquito bites and insects in the room. The bathroom was quite dirty, and the towels smelled bad. We also had some odd interactions with the host. Around midday, he showed us to a room, but after we’d unpacked and settled in for about 15 minutes, he came back and told us to move to a much smaller, cramped room. He didn’t explain why, and there was a language barrier, even though we’d walked past several larger empty rooms. Then, late at night while we were in bed, he knocked asking us to pay, despite our earlier agreement to pay at checkout.
