We spent all ten days with lovely weather and clear water, apart from a few small, harmless jellyfish. The water was as clear as a baby's eye. If people found it dirty, they may have visited during a storm, which is normal. We even joined local fishermen for a seine catch, and it was amazing. We were there in May 2013, and I highly recommend it. The beach is the main draw, but you can also take a trip to Dalat, a colorful city with its own history and plenty to see. The lighthouse is 20 minutes away, with stunning views and great photo opportunities. Phan Thiet is 15 minutes away, with big markets selling everything from produce and seafood to tea, coffee, and souvenirs at low prices. There are also lots of restaurants and cafes for different tastes. The village around the hotel is friendly, and local fruit and vegetables are cheap, even cheaper than in Phan Thiet. We ate enough to last us ten years for next to nothing. Don’t be afraid to try the local seafood restaurants. They may not look very clean at first, but cooking is sacred to them, and they prepare what they caught that morning while you were asleep. We ate lots of shrimp, squid, and shellfish without any stomach problems. If we’d known, we would have skipped the six-hour tour bus ride from Nha Trang and taken a taxi for 1200 rubles. It would have been worth it. The rooms in the three-story building were 5+, but you could pay 1,500 rubles a day for a bungalow if one was available, much less than booking through a tour operator. The rooftop of that same building is open because it has an indoor conference room, and it’s a great spot for photos. We had a wonderful night up there, borrowing rocking chairs from the conference room and watching the stars under a cozy blanket. It felt like the whole universe had opened up, with birds, grasshoppers, and the surf in the background. Just stunning 😌
