Song Huong Hotel

I regretted choosing this place and would tell solo travelers who don't speak Vietnamese to go for a cheaper hostel instead. The other men in my dorm smelled a bit and made gross noises. Most seemed to be over 37, and some sounded like motors with their mouths open at night. I felt uncomfortable here. Without the scooter problem, I'd have given it 3/5, but I took off a star because it wasted my time. Stay only if you can't find a cheaper option. The service was pretty poor. I know the language barrier may have been part of it, but in five weeks in Vietnam I'd met plenty of receptionists with limited English who still made things pleasant. Here, staff weren't warm or friendly. They seemed mildly annoyed whenever I asked for help. A man promised me a scooter for 7 a.m. the next day. I checked the bike and time several times with Google Translate, and he nodded, confirmed it, and even used his own Google Translate to say “bike 7am in the morning yes.” I got up early and waited more than an hour, but he never brought it. When I asked an older woman at reception, communication was difficult and she pointed outside without understanding what I meant. Google Translate didn't help much either. Eventually the receptionist said the man didn't know about bikes. I lost a lot of time on my only morning in mui ne. Cleanliness was just okay, despite reviews calling it clean. The bathroom smelled bad, and the sink water looked a little murky, so I wouldn't brush my teeth with it. The bathroom worked, but it was uncomfortable to use. It did improve a bit on the second day. Since this is one of the pricier cheap options, I expected a little better. The location is called “good,” but after exploring, I found there wasn't really a bad spot around here. Everything is close, and this hostel is on a narrow strip with restaurants and shops, like the others in the area.
