BB Hotel & Resort

The price was high, but the stay didn’t come close to feeling worth it. The room condition and service were nowhere near what I’d expect from a premium property. The room was in poor shape and didn’t match the booking description or the pictures on booking platforms. Basic things weren’t working properly: the TV didn’t work, the Wi-Fi was unreliable, and maintenance overall was poor. I booked a room with a balcony but wasn’t given one, and some advertised amenities were missing too. The food was below average. I’d strongly advise travelers to check recent reviews and confirm the details before booking BB Hotel through any platform. This was extremely disappointing.

I had to ask for fresh sheets when I arrived because the ones on the bed didn’t seem new. I only stayed one night before moving to a much nicer hostel that cost three times less. This dorm is ridiculously overpriced: about 24 dollars, when I’d have found 5 dollars a night more acceptable. The room itself was okay, but the surroundings were awful and didn’t feel safe. The bathroom and toilet were in very poor shape too. I was taken by motorbike to a different area, since the dorm isn’t inside the hotel complex. The place looked like an abandoned hotel or construction site. I’ve traveled around SE Asia for a while, and this was the most expensive and worst accommodation I’ve had so far. It’s misleading for the hotel to offer this dorm as it does.

The location was a big plus, near the island’s only coworking space, Nomads, which is the best one, as well as King Kong Market and Long Beach. The beach is fairly calm, with plenty going on after dark. The hotel covers the basics really well, even if it isn’t luxurious. Laundry is 30k/kg, a bit more than the neighborhood rate of 25k/kg, but convenient. At first, the smaller bed had sand on it, and the older owner was reluctant to change the sheets, though she did eventually change them herself. We chatted a few times after that, and the staff turned out to be super friendly and relaxed. If you get the chance, head up to the rooftop after dark. The stars are superb compared with the city view, though I wish BB hotel would freshen up the space so it’s easier to enjoy them. We also had a nice chat with Gary, an honorary staff member. We loved the place so much that we extended our stay. The room was spacious and clean, and the owners were sweet and attentive. It’s near the main strip and still feels quiet, with the beach, laundry, groceries, and restaurants all close by. The view from the third-floor rooftop is amazing too.
