Cali Hill Resort & Spa

The receptionist kept us waiting for 2-3 hours before admitting they were overbooked. The same thing was happening to 10-20 other people in front of us, and it completely ruined the day. While we waited, we went up to look at the rooms and pool. They were disgusting. The pool looked like it had algae, and the rooms were mouldy. Please avoid staying here, no matter how good a deal you find.

We arrived on New Years eve and were told our booking had been cancelled. We’d booked and paid through Airbnb, where this hotel sometimes lists itself, but the staff offered no help or consideration. Airbnb refunded us, but we were left with nowhere to stay. After seeing how they handle confirmed bookings, including cancelling them, I wouldn’t feel confident booking here.

My partner, our kids, my parents and I booked online and paid the full price. When we arrived in Phu Quoc, the desk staff said the owners had changed and we had no room booked with them. We had to rush around to find somewhere else at the last minute and pay ridiculous prices. Double-check your bookings in Phu Quoc. This happened to many people.

The location worked well for me since Cali Hill sits between two main areas and both are walkable. I liked how cold the A/C got, and the room had the basics: TV, storage, and coffee to get started. Just ask the front desk for the water heater. The bed was very thin and hard, so it won't suit you if you like sinking into a plush mattress. The bathroom combines toilet, sink, and shower, so move anything you want to keep dry, especially the toilet paper. The pool looked lovely, and both restaurants seemed busy, though I didn't try them because I had other plans.
