I spent five nights in a waterfront bungalow and really liked the peaceful beach, natural surroundings, and raw wooden design. The setting feels grounding, and the bed was comfortable. The stone bowl bathtub is a special touch. The staff were kind, though the restaurant could use more attention to table setup, clearing dishes, and portion sizes. Some textiles were worn and still had the old name on them, and general maintenance could be better. The spa space is beautiful, but it didn’t seem to be operating. The resort has a calm feel and a wonderful setting. With some refinement it could reach a higher standard. I enjoyed the stay and would come back for the quiet and natural beauty.

It’s a good resort for quiet time, with a lovely semi-private beach, generally good breakfast, and nice entertainment every day. But please update the restaurant menu and have waiters who can speak basic English. Dinner was simply terrible. Nobody wants pizza and burgers in Vietnam, dear owner, you’re wasting a good opportunity.

The staff were genuinely friendly, but the new owners seem not to care about guests. There was construction from 7am to 11pm every day, which they had lied about, and a huge generator outside my room at night. I couldn’t sleep or relax. The place is far from everything I’d come to enjoy and unwind at under the previous owners, and I ended up avoiding the hotel and dreading going back. They’ve also removed the beach loungers, so guests have to pay to use the new beach bar. Horrible.

We spent four nights at Milana Beach Resort & Spa in January 2026. It seems to have had a beautiful past and could have a great future, but at the moment it’s run down and needs major work. The location by the beach is quiet and away from the main population centres, if that’s what you’re after. The view faces south-southeast rather than west, so for the famous Phu Quoc sunset you’ll need to go some way up or down the road. It was reasonable value. Breakfast was good, with an egg station, tasty fruit such as dragon fruit, passion fruit, pineapple and melon, Vietnamese hot dishes, and Western food. Reception staff were very helpful and spoke good English, while the restaurant staff had mixed English. During our four days, some efforts were made to fix things, but the hotel needs firmer management to get back to its potential. The lake is dirty, and a pipe from the hotel area leaves a slick of filth on the surface. Rubbish, including broken tiles and discarded toilets, lay on the far shore in our lake view, while a woman swept a few leaves by a tree. The sea near the hotel jetty had plastic bags floating in it, and each night the tide leaves rubbish on the beach, including single flip flops, plastic Mobil oil cans, broken polystyrene, and lots of other plastic. Staff seemed to try to clear it, but early morning walks along the beach were grim. To be fair, single-use plastic from coffee is a wider problem in Vietnam. An old footbridge over the lake has rusting bicycles tied along its sides. They look as if they were dredged from the water and left there, though some might find it charming. The room walls don’t insulate well, and we could clearly hear people in the adjoining room. Guests next door leaving for a tour or the airport woke us early one morning, so bring ear plugs. By the kitchen, there’s a coconut cutting area with an unattended machete on a surface about waist-high to a small child. The “spa” is an open-sided hut with two massage beds and no privacy, if you want any, and there are no other spa facilities. We were told a pool guard was on duty during the day but never saw one. It didn’t matter to us, though it might matter to parents with small children. There weren’t enough loungers: we counted about 24, but only 14 cushions for the hard, slatted wooden seats. One evening we called reception because our room hadn’t been made up, and they sorted it straight away. A few hundred yards up the road, Green Bay Resort & Spa is beautiful and in a different league, though it cost about ten times what we paid at Milana, according to Booking.com. You can eat at its restaurant, or pay VND2,000,000 (US$76) to use the beach and pool, with a VND1,000,000 restaurant rebate. From our perspective, that was worth it.

It’s peaceful, clean, and has a lovely relaxing feel, a nice spot for a quiet beach break. The main drawback is how little there is nearby. For restaurants or more to do, you’ll usually need a taxi or a rented motorbike.
