Trung Huynh Bungalow

I booked through Agoda, but when I arrived, the hotel said there was no reservation. After I checked with Agoda, they admitted they’d forgotten my booking and said they were full. They arranged a temporary stay at nearby Nguyen Nhan Hotel, where the room was very small and had no facilities at all. The woman there even asked me for more money to get a bigger room. Also, all the restaurants in Phu Quoc are very overpriced.

The price is great, it’s centrally located, quiet and peaceful, and the air conditioner works well. I stayed for four days, but the place looked much more dated than the reservation pictures suggested. There were definitely hairs on the sheets, and hot water was hit and miss. No towel, kettle, or toilet paper was provided at first, though those arrived right away. The kettle only stayed on if you held the switch down manually. There’s definitely no housekeeping, which may explain the low price. A sign tells you to take your valuables when leaving the room, which makes you alert. The owner/front desk person spent his time in a hammock hidden behind the check-in desk, either sleeping or watching TV, so he had no idea who was coming into or leaving the bungalow. Enjoy your stay!

The rooms were nice and spacious. It’s right in the center, with lots of nearby shops and restaurants.

The garden is spacious and airy, and the enthusiastic staff can help you celebrate a small party. It’s a homestay style place where you can cook for yourself. There’s no swimming pool, and the hot water system isn’t good. The beach is about 3 km away, so it’s not convenient if you’re expecting a resort-style stay. We chose it because the price was very cheap.
