Lan Rung Beach Resort

The hotel is in a peaceful area about 2 km from the nearest town, so it’s a lovely place to unwind. My apartment was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, with a stunning sea view. The staff were very welcoming and always ready to help, and breakfast had plenty of delicious choices. There can be daytime and evening parties on some weekends, so it may get a little loud. It didn’t bother me, though. I’d happily recommend the hotel.

The beach was just okay, with lots of rocks and a steep drop into the water. Still, the food was tasty and authentic, and the resort was in pretty good condition. It has a neoclassical style and offers very good value for money.

We had a really lovely family stay at Lan Rung and are already looking forward to coming back. The seafood buffet was a highlight, and breakfast came with a refreshing view of the beach. Our room was spotless, with a lovely view over the water. After arriving, we headed to one of the many pools for an afternoon swim, with an attentive attendant keeping watch. The parking attendant greeted us with a smile and our bags were quickly taken to the room. Staff were courteous and attentive throughout our two days, and checkout was smooth and professional.

The rooms were clean and spacious, and we had a nice view, but six nights was far too long for us. I’d rate this place a 3 for young kids and a 2 for adults, and wish we’d booked only two nights. There’s no concierge, beach chairs, or boogie boards, and the showers had cheap shampoo but no conditioner. Pool service, and service elsewhere, was absent unless we went to order and carried everything back ourselves. The front desk staff felt cold and abrupt, and weren’t very helpful until we pressed them to act. The website felt like a bait and switch: only one restaurant was open, with nothing else available. It was a dead place until a large team building group arrived for two days. They took over, with loud speakers constantly playing and no room for us at dinner or breakfast. The breakfast buffet was already a joke, and after the group demolished it, it was gross. Go up the road to the Holiday Inn if you want real 4-5 star service. This place is NOT 4 stars.
