Tien Dat Motel

The owner was really friendly, and the rooms were clean. After six days riding a motorbike from Da Lat to Hoi An, we stopped here on a rainy, cold day. The strong water pressure and nice hot shower were very welcome, and she brought me hot tea to warm up. There’s a great place across the road for happy pancakes.

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. It’s a five-minute walk from the bus station, with convenience stores, restaurants, mechanics, a spa, and a salon nearby. I’d had a bad motorcycle accident and was fairly crippled when a taxi driver brought me here, asking them to find me a cheap motel. They greeted me with big smiles and carried my bag because I couldn’t use my arm. I told them I had very little money, and they said they had a room for me. I stayed two nights in a cozy, clean double room for 150,000 Dong a night, about $6 USD. The man at reception helped me find a pharmacy and delicious cheap food, and worked out which bus station could get me to another major city.

The facilities aren’t new, but they were clean, and the people were so nice. The owner was lovely and always ready to help. She provided a boiler so we could make coffee with our 3in1 sticks, and the guy on night reception recommended a nice restaurant.

The rooftop made awful noise all night during the rain and wind, and I could barely sleep. The double bed for two was small, with a stiff mattress. Sound carries easily too, I could hear the front desk phone from the third floor. The bathroom was small, though that was okay. There were no outlets near the bed or nightstand, just one by the window. A horrible stay.
