The room had no hot water, and the sheets felt stiff and itchy. It also smelled very musty, with the window opening just inches from a brick wall and letting in no sunlight. The lift was out, so I had to haul my 25kg suitcase up six flights, though the maid kindly helped. I found the hotel on Agoda for $8, but went in person because I wanted to book directly. They said they no longer used Agoda, even though they were still listed there and guests could pay through the app, and quoted $15. After about 10 minutes of back and forth through Google Translate while my family waited in the taxi, the staff agreed to my $10 offer.

The beds were fine and the fridge worked, and the price matched what I expected. I chose this place because it's next to my aunt's house, near the market and in a central spot. The staff helped us rent scooters. There was no hot water during my two-night stay; they said that's how the solar hot water works and offered an urn of boiling water, without acknowledging the inconvenience or apologizing. I've stayed in better hotels in Rach Gia and worse ones too. This is the better of the two next to my aunt's house, but honestly I don't think I'd stay again, even though you could do worse.

For a stopover in Rach Gia, this budget place works well, especially with the Futa bus station just across the street, about a minute's walk away. Standard rooms are under US10. The room interior was clean, 9/10, but the two-bed room on the 3rd floor had weak air conditioning and a slight cigarette smell. Ash trays were in the room, so smoking seems to be allowed. There's no elevator, and the top floor is the 4th. Head toward the seafront and Vinmart Department Store is about 1km away, though I didn't see many taxis around. This isn't much of a tourist town, and people here seemed to understand only enough English to get by with Google Translate. Good luck.

The lady was very friendly and helpful, and the male receptionist was helpful too. Our room 101 had a comfortable bed, sturdy furniture, and good chairs. It was a little dark because the house outside the window was very close. The bathroom had no window but did have a fan, and the room also had a fridge, aircon, and fan. Good value.

This cute little family hotel suited me for one night while I waited for the ferry to Phu Quoc the next day. The room was fine, and I didn't think Rach Gia itself had much worth seeing. The kids speak English, so you can have a sweet little chat with them. The two boys are GENIUSES on the piano. Ask them for some mozart if you see them, and be amazed.
