On my trip to Rach Gia, I stayed at Saigon Rach Gia Hotel, part of the Saigontourist chain, and was very satisfied. The staff were professional, warm, and ready to help, and the restaurant served a good range of dishes, including Kiên Giang specialties and international food. My room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The central location made it easy to reach the pier for Phu Quoc and explore nearby attractions. Kien Giang has beautiful coastlines, mountains, and scenery, and its welcoming people make you want to return. Saigon Rach Gia Hotel brings together that natural setting and the service of Saigontourist. I’d definitely stay again, whether visiting for business or leisure.

We’d stayed in several places around Vietnam and chose Saigon Rachgia Hotel because we wanted somewhere luxurious and nice. It cost 10-13 times more than the other places, but felt far more worn out and nowhere near worth even a quarter of that price. The hallways and elevator were dirty, and the pool area was disgusting. At the restaurant, it took three waitresses to handle the card payment. You can find a decent place much more cheaply without any trouble.

The room stayed at 29 degrees all night because the air conditioning was so weak. The hotel itself was clean, but very hot. We only stayed because our booking was non-refundable, and with two rooms we would have lost close to $300 by leaving. I won’t prepay for a hotel again.

The hotel is central and in a safe area, and both the rooms and the rest of the facility were very clean during our three-night stay. Breakfast was easily the weakest we’ve had on our trip from north to south Vietnam, even worse than at a sophisticated three-star hotel in Hanoi. The door and bell staff, pool attendants, breakfast team, and room cleaners were all wonderful. The front desk and welcome staff, though, were consistently cold and unfriendly, with no personality. They were the worst we’ve encountered so far.

The rooms have an old-fashioned style, though they’re furnished well enough. Breakfast wasn’t extensive, but what they served was tasty. The gym was quite dusty.
