Goldwin Hotel

The location was great, an easy walk into the center, and the bed was comfortable. Our room was clean and spacious, with nice lighting, but my husband woke with several bites that looked like bed bug bites. We didn't find evidence of bugs, but the bites appeared after our stay. We were there for 2 nights in a double room, and its internal window meant we kept the curtains closed for privacy. Damp was a real problem. The walls became wet and slippery, and everything felt damp in Sapa's weather. There's no heater unless you pay extra, and I think heating should be included. Otherwise, the place could end up covered in mould. The free wifi was very poor, and the kettle had so much limescale that we didn't risk using it. Construction two buildings away started at 6am and went well past 5pm. It was extremely loud, like it was happening next door. Sound carries easily here too: we could hear every word when the owner and staff chatted downstairs, so light sleepers should know that. The owner was nice, though not as friendly to us as reviews had led us to expect. They let us check in early, and there were plenty of empty rooms with their doors left open throughout our stay. We wouldn't return because of the possible bed bugs and dampness, though it wasn't all bad.
