Mountain Clouds Sapa Hostel

I stayed here for two weeks, and they cleaned my bed every day, along with changing the soap, toothbrushes, and towels. You’d be hard-pressed to find another hostel that does all that daily. The dorm had a cable TV with English channels, and there’s a guitar in the lobby, a big plus for me. The staff were really friendly, and the atmosphere was cosy. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in during three years of travelling. A private room gives you a great balcony view. The hostel costs just $4, though laundry at 35000 vnd isn’t especially cheap.

The owners were very helpful and accommodating. They spoke English, though not fluently, and even lent me their personal motorbike helmet. Breakfast was made with a lot of care. The beds were large and clean, with curtains. The bathroom in the dorm was cleaned every day, the beds were made, and I got a fresh towel and toothbrush daily.

The location is beautiful and close to the center square and main area. My room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. There was karaoke and a beer party while I was there, and I had a great time. The food was pretty good as well. I’d definitely come back for a longer stay.

The heated mattress was a big plus during winter, and the room itself was nice. It’s not too close to the center, but not far either. The receptionist spoke a little English, enough to get by. When a woman was at reception, she looked at us like we were aliens, so we left her alone. Breakfast was self-serve, with ingredients to make something yourself, and looked really terrible. At $15 for a double room, I expected a little more from the experience.
