Paris Boutique Sapa Hotel

After a full day trekking, that soft bed and strong hot shower were just what I needed. The reception guys helped with tickets and made sure I was comfortable, and the room was cleaner than some pricier places I’ve stayed in Sapa. It’s a boutique hotel, so it isn’t about luxury, but it has a lot of heart. The location is great, and it felt more like staying with a friend. I’d recommend it for an easy, hassle-free trip.

The room was filthy and dusty, with insects everywhere, stained sheets and pillows, brown towels, hair across the beds and blankets, and black bed bugs on the beds. There was mold on the ceiling and yellow water dripping around the room. The windows were thin and the curtains did nothing to block the noise from people outside. Even when someone complained, staff didn’t respond. The rooms were small and noisy, and the staff were no help. When we arrived the first night, nobody was there to assist us. The staff were asleep, so we had to wake them, then carry our own luggage upstairs. They handed us the room cards in their sleep clothes. A very bad experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Staff were shouting and having loud conversations right outside my room from 7 a.m. I asked them to quiet down, but they kept yelling. Inside, the room was dirty and dusty, with bugs, stained pillows and bed covers, and mold in the shower. The TV didn’t work, and the AC kept switching suddenly between cold and hot. I asked to change rooms, but the replacement was still dirty and dusty. A terrible stay. I won’t return or recommend it.

The location is central in Sapa, opposite the lake and right across from Love street, but the price felt too high for the low quality. My room was clean, though tiny and suffocating, with two very small twin beds. I’m a tiny Asian person and still sometimes fell off one at night. My friends’ double bed was actually two beds pushed together, and their sheets were dirty. My room looked straight at the stairs, not the lake. The walls were so thin I could hear everything next door, including talking, showering, and using the toilet. There was glass between the bathroom and bedroom, with a curtain so thin that people outside could see someone showering. My straight male friends were in the next room and could see each other shower. In the morning, food smells traveled all the way from the ground floor to my room. The buffet had few choices and was just okay. The receptionists were terrible. They deactivated my key card before checkout while my luggage was still in the room. There was only one card for two people, so we had to go out together, stay in together, or leave the door open. That didn’t feel safe at all.
