Pistachio Hotel Sapa

We were a family of four, with kids aged 6 and 9, and found the hotel convenient for walking into the town center. The rooms were very well kept, and the balcony view over the valley was stunning, especially in the misty mornings. Breakfast had a good range, and service there was smooth with no waits. Staff in the lobby and restaurant were attentive and checked in with us throughout our stay. The shuttle to the train station was roomy enough for all of us and easy to use. Pistachio Hotel made for a comfortable, scenic stay in Sapa, and we’d gladly return and recommend it.

Being on the 10th floor gave us a clear look from our balcony at the iconic Fansipan train as it crossed the mountainside. Seeing it early in the morning and late in the afternoon made the views a real highlight of our time in Sapa. Pistachio Hotel’s staff were welcoming and helpful, and spoke English well, so getting things sorted was easy. Our room stayed clean, fresh-smelling, and well maintained throughout our stay.

The restaurant team made breakfast feel personal. Thao Thi Sua, Sinh and restaurant manager Mr. Anh remembered that we liked strong coffee with hot milk and strong Lipton tea with soya milk, and they filled our drinking water before day trips. They were always smiling, and we were sad to leave those hardworking staff. We stayed for 5 nights, so the complimentary herbal bath was included. Reception told us to go in normal clothes, but we later found out we were supposed to wear dressing gowns. We ended up with wet underwear and had to cover ourselves with a towel. They should explain the clothing clearly beforehand. We also took the hotel taxi to Cat Cat Village. It was a drive of 10 minutes or less, with a total return time of 3 hours, but the fare felt quite expensive. The driver then asked for a tip, which we didn’t appreciate after already being charged so much. After that first taxi trip, we learned our lesson and booked tours online for less. From our balcony at this beautiful mountain-view hotel, we could watch the old railway train pass by.

The room was actually very spacious and had a good bed. This is an older, mid-price hotel that suits many travelers looking for a balance between cost and facilities, and it sits right in the city center. There’s nothing especially notable about the breakfast or other facilities, they’re all pretty standard. It seems they may move guests between rooms to manage capacity, based on my stay and what I heard from others. I think this is usually an upgrade, but check that the room matches your booking. One more thing, the restaurant cooking smell sticks to your clothes.
