Son Ha Sapa Hotel Plus

Our stay at Son Ha Hotel was a booking from hell, and I feel other travelers to Sapa, Vietnam should know how deceptive the online photos are. The owner and Agoda both refused to help when we tried to cancel as soon as we saw the room, which was shocking and showed no empathy or reason. There was a bad odor and stains on the lobby couches, which looked too dirty to sit on. Staff showed no concern, didn’t speak English, and made no attempt to help with our luggage. The property has three or four floors and no elevator. The building was old and poorly maintained. Our room smelled moldy and unsanitary, with mold and stains throughout the bathroom. It looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. The mattress was hard and old, and crawling with bed bugs. Sheets were thin, rough, and looked decades old. Wallpaper was peeling, hair was scattered around, and the closet was dirty. The bathroom lock was broken, so the door wouldn’t close properly. There was no smart TV, only local channels, and no shampoo, soap, coffee, tea, or complimentary water. Hot water was broken. Air conditioning cost extra and wasn’t included in the price. The windows faced a concrete wall or a neighbor’s room just a few feet away. Noise was constant, and we couldn’t relax or feel safe. If you care about hygiene, health, and comfort, stay somewhere else. There are many other hotels in the area that care about guests. Son Ha Hotel shouldn’t be listed as a viable option. Save yourself the regret and frustration.
