Tubotel Sapa

On the first day, the food was okay, but the next day they only offered noodles, guava, and oranges. The staff seemed distracted, busy working on their computers. We also reminded them about the heater, but it never worked all night. It’s a decent place for a short stay.

I’d say this works best for one or two nights, not a long stay of 3 or more days. There’s barely room for luggage, and the toilet isn’t private, even for a couple. The rooms have no chairs or tables, so doing any work is difficult, and there are no loungers by the pool either. It feels like a larger capsule hotel where you can stand. Different strokes for different people, I guess.

The staff were super helpful, the showers were great, and the fluffy doona was comfortable. Breakfast tasted good, though it was a bit basic. The bed setup might be awkward, but I enjoyed the novelty of sleeping on a floor platform in a honeycomb room. For the price, it’s a really magical place to explore and stay.

The colorful, cute design and the high-up view are nice, but the rooms felt humid, especially with Sapa’s changing weather and rain. Getting there also means walking up an incline. The staff either didn’t speak English or weren’t very service-minded. We asked them to order a taxi and got a car that took us downtown for 100k vnd. A regular taxi costs less than half, and nobody told us the price beforehand. It felt like an overpriced camping experience.
