Apricot Resort - Bau Mai Resort

There aren’t many guests around, and the whole area feels deserted, with unfinished hotels and resorts that seem to have been left behind. Outside the resort, the rest of the beach and neighborhood are covered in rubbish. Inside, though, the pool, grounds, and beach right in front are kept clean and pleasant. The location has real potential, but nearby restaurants are over a 20-minute walk away, and you’ll need a taxi to reach any shops. There’s no bar, though you can get beer at the resort restaurant, which is okay but nothing special. Our room was clean, but felt like a cell. There were no bedside lights, so after turning off the main light, the only way to see your way to bed was to use your phone. It’s a shame, because the place could be so much better.

The cleanliness was remarkable. We checked the surfaces, switches, toilet seat, taps, furniture, and remotes with wet wipes and alcohol, as we always do, and the wipes stayed clean. That has never happened for us in Vietnam before, except at expensive four-star Western-run hotels. We stayed in the seaside section, in a room with a wonderfully comfortable, thick Western-style mattress, much like ours at home. The resort sits on both sides of the road. On the seaside, there are several villas, each with four separate rooms, two downstairs and two upstairs. There’s a park to wander through, a coffee shop, a small beach, and a path to the restaurant. It’s large, airy, and open to fresh air. Across the road are a pool, a fishing pond with plenty of fish, and a small pagoda. You can walk all around the ponds, and there’s also a garden beside the restaurant with tables and seats for drinks, under lots of trees in a cool, breezy spot. We ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant twice, and the chef made very tasty meals. Everywhere was clean, with no plastic bags or coffee cups lying around. The room prices were absolutely acceptable, and all in all we had a very good stay. I can totally recommend Ke Ga Lighthouse Resort .

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was an okay buffet. The restaurant food was expensive. This is a big commercial resort right on the coast, but the room felt a bit dated. The USB ports were broken and there weren’t many power outlets.

I come back every year to get some peace and quiet, far from noisy HCM. The staff are generally polite and helpful. The Wi-Fi coverage could be better.
