For a peaceful, romantic getaway surrounded by nature, I’d come back here with my honey. The island has some of the best natural beaches, with different spots where you can find stronger or gentler waves. Local people are friendly, honest, and open. Seafood is fresh and well priced. You can buy it at the local market and ask a restaurant to cook it, or bring your own food and drinks, with just a 2 USD service charge.

We found the beaches lovely, with white sand and loads of shells and clams. We even spotted some lovely carnivores in parts of the island. But there were around 50 jellyfish on the beach, and getting around was a problem: we couldn't find anyone renting bikes or kayaks, even after asking at house after house. From the harbor and town in the south, one road runs 8 km through "nothing" to Minh Chau. There were only two places in this part of the island where we found delicious seafood. At Minh Chau Beach Resort, even fried rice started at 100 vnd, while a nearby kiosk charged 30 vnd for fried rice with seafood stuff. The hotel looked great at first, with a big restaurant and a swimming pool, but it wasn't good quality. We tried 3 rooms. Water splashed everywhere from the sink, some lights didn't work, and the floors weren't clean. They tried to tidy the rooms, but didn't do it well. For me, this was below the usual Vietnamese hotel standard. The woman at reception was kind, though, and the first English-speaking person we met in Vietnam, after traveling mostly through the north. Quan Lan isn't a good place to visit in "winter" (till May), when there's "nothing" to do, even at this hotel. Maybe summer would be different. One day was too much for this area.

White sand, clear blue water, and long beaches, all really clean and quiet, with hardly anyone around. The beaches are beautiful, and the seafood is good too. Getting between beaches is easier by bike. You can rent one here for 200.000vnd/day, 15usd.

Great for a family vacation. It's green and spacious, really close to the beach, and there's fresh seafood. The swimming pool has a chill view.

Booking was a bad experience. The landlord made us reserve our meals at the hotel.
