By local standards, it’s a five-star hotel, but it isn’t a real five-star place. It feels more like a four-star American hotel, and it’s no JW Marriott. You’ll notice a few odd things here and there.

It may be one of the better hotels in Viet Tri, but the service and attention to guest satisfaction were poor. Our VIP king room had only two small pillows, which wasn’t comfortable. They also didn’t clean the room after the first night, for no apparent reason. We got just two small 330 ml bottles of water for the day, not even 500 ml bottles. That wasn’t enough, especially since tap water in Vietnam isn’t drinkable. Getting extra coffee was difficult too. When we raised these issues, the staff didn’t apologize. They just said that was their standard and went on and on. For the price, the standard was low, even by Vietnam’s standards. Usually I’d say you get what you pay for, but here we paid and got very little. Still, they called right at 12:00 noon to remind us to check out. I’d pick another hotel in Viet Tri. It wasn’t worth the money.

Everything was very good. Vincom mall is just a two-minute walk across the square, handy for meals and shopping.
