Nolis Hotel

It was decent enough. The photos make it look better, though. Breakfast was good enough, and the view from the swimming pool was okay.

The food and everything else seemed good, but the place feels haunted, especially by the elevator on the seventh floor. I didn't press the button for the seventh floor, yet the elevator kept going there. The rooms and lobby should be brighter and feel safer.

The hotel is right on the beach front, with a good view over the water. Parking under the building was available, and security were helpful. I stayed for the last few days of Tet and got to check in about an hour early. My triple room was a good size, clean and airy, with a roomy bathroom, a powerful shower, and hot water whenever needed. The linen was clean, though there were a few stains here and there. The housekeeper was pleasant and always spoke to me. Reception were friendly at check-in, but not very sociable for the rest of the stay, with no greeting or asking how my day was. The reception area was tidy but a little dated. Breakfast was included, with hot and cold dishes, but it wasn't very tasty and the same food was served all three days. The restaurant got busy and also looked a little dated. The rooftop pool area and pool were small, and it got crowded late in the afternoon. The water felt a bit cool at first, and some parts of the hotel could use a little TLC. The beach side was tidy, but the pavement on the hotel side was hazardous in either direction, with rubbish, unfinished paving, and piles of rubble that could trip you up. Apart from those smaller issues, it was a good stay. I'd stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Vung Tau.

The location and beach view are the hotel's main strengths. It's old, gloomy, and run down, and my family members who live in Vietnam considered the price high for a standard Vietnamese hotel. The website photos are heavily filtered. I can see that the hotel resembles them, but in person it looks much older, with yellow spots, black stains, and odd-colored marks all over. I felt catfished by Nolis 😤. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't worth what I paid, and I wouldn't return.
