Oyster Bay Hotel Vung Tau

I had a nice short stay, with helpful staff, good service, a clean room, and a spectacular view. There was a slightly strange smell in the toilet, but it shouldn't be a big problem. The downside was having no indoor motorbike parking. I had to leave my bike outside in the sun, and it got really hot to ride in the afternoon.

For a hotel with a pool in Vung Tau, this was good value for the price. The staff were friendly, the view was good, breakfast wasn't bad, the pool was nice, and the rooms were clean. The shower was inconvenient, though, and the only exercise equipment was a treadmill and stationary bikes.

I won't come back. It was too expensive for what I got, and the breakfast was super terrible: cold, hard, and with few choices. They made only one type of noodle, with no omelette or cooked eggs. We came down at 9.15 and lots of food was already gone. After a hot bowl of noodles, I had to make do with cold cake, yoghurt, and fruit. I paid $176 for the room, but breakfast felt like it belonged in a 2 star hotel. I saw reviews praising the buffet, but really, they got paid to do so. The room was ok, but the air conditioning took too long to cool it and was a bit noisy. The corridors and lift had no AC, so they were freaking hot. The room had a cooktop but no pots, and no microwave was available. They also left the curtains open, so when I checked in at 4 the room was terribly hot. We had to wait at least 2 hour for it to get back to normal temperature. The swimming pool water was always cold, not suitable for early morning or night swims, especially when they added more chlorine to clean it at night, from 7pm onwards. The other staff were nice, though one receptionist didn't even smile while explaining the policies. The receptionist met me today to apologize and showed me she had an accident yesterday. I said sorry to her too, she must have had a terrible day yesterday. She was doing her job as best she could. The problems came from management. The buffet needs a big improvement, and the AC could be better with just a little adjustment. The rest was ok, and all the staff were actually very nice. I hope the manager won't put pressure on the staff because of my review. Happy New Year to you all!

The rooms were comfortable and cozy, with a beautiful view from the window. That's about all I liked. The bathroom was very small and uncomfortable, the tap water smelled of mud, and all the bathroom flushes were clogged. The air conditioning behaved strangely, switching from stuffy to very cold. For a hotel at this level, breakfast was disappointing, with very limited options, odd food quality, and super-budget desserts. The hotel is in a secluded area, but that didn't mean peace and quiet: karaoke was loud until 11:30 PM, with the shouting audible on the upper floors. Then loud music started at 5:45 AM. You won't get any rest here. I don't recommend coming.
