I paid 850k VND through the Agoda app, but when I arrived that afternoon, the owner said they didn’t know about the booking and weren’t affiliated with Agoda. They suggested I cancel it and book directly for 1200k VND. I checked with Agoda and waited about two minutes at reception. One staff member said Agoda had sent a confirmation email, which seemed odd since the hotel said it wasn’t registered with Agoda and had an email address to receive the message. Another staff member checked the email, ignored me, and kept telling me to cancel in the app because they had another room for 1200k VND. If they’d quoted that price in the app from the start, I might have booked. This kind of deceptive behavior... sigh.

The rooms are clean, though a bit small, and there’s no elevator. The owner is lovely and enthusiastic, always willing to lend things or help out. There’s also a kitchen you can use for cooking. If you book through an app, the owner said to use Booking.com and contact them directly, since he doesn’t work with Agoda or any other app.

I booked for 900k through Agoda. At the hotel, they said they weren’t affiliated with Agoda, asked me to cancel, then resold the room for 900k. When I asked Agoda if collecting my information was all they had to do, they strongly denied responsibility. This hotel is a scam. Everyone should avoid it.

The only real downside is having to use the stairs, since there’s no elevator. The owners are sweet and eager to help, including with cooking and laundry, and they’ll lend you utensils. Our room was clean, airy, and close to the beach. If you book through an app, the owners say to use Booking and contact them directly because they don’t work with other apps. I’ll come back to support them 👍

The beach is quite close, and I enjoyed getting to speak Huế again with the owner, who’s from my hometown. Prices going up over a holiday seemed understandable, since the location is in demand. There’s no elevator, but for that holiday price, especially after a long year of lockdowns, I can understand the owner. I happened to stay when the family dog had puppies, so I asked him for one. It was very cute and easy to do. Thanks to the motel, I’ll support you again if I get the chance to return!
