The Terraces Boutique Apartments

We had a reservation for more than eight months, then five days before arrival they told us it was cancelled because of an earthquake from seven months earlier. They’d posted on Facebook that they were fully operational after the earthquake, and we only found out when we contacted them to make sure everything was in order. They offered no compensation at all. Don’t book here if you want a smooth holiday. They’re clearly useless.

The Terrace Boutique Apartments, Port Vila are beautiful, stylish and well equipped. I’d never been to Vanuatu and wasn’t sure what to book. I came across an article calling the apartments “secluded but not in a good way.” I don’t know what that author meant, or whether they had mixed the place up with somewhere else. We loved it. It’s a five-minute walk to town, or you can hop on one of the many buses that pass the door. You get privacy when you want it and access to activities and entertainment when you want them. The view is stunning, there’s a gorgeous private pool, and the bed is hard to leave. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy to pick up fresh produce at the local market and cook a feast. Breakfast was at the sister resort Mangoes next door, so close it felt like the same place. The food was healthy and fresh, and the staff there were delightful. Help was only a call away, and staff went out of their way to please us. Would I stay here again? Yep, every time, in a heartbeat.

We slept really well, with fans and air conditioning in the bedroom and fans downstairs. The service was great, and breakfast was included, brought over from Mangoes resort next door. We’d recommend dinner there too. It’s a 10-minute walk into town. The accommodation is spacious, with your own pool and a great view over the first lagoon. It doesn’t have beach or lagoon access, but I didn’t miss that since I prefer pools. Yes, you should stay here. I recommend it completely.

The vented windows have mesh over them, so you can let in a cool breeze without worrying about critters getting inside. Our apartment was spacious, the staff were great, and the views were amazing. We also had a plunge pool and private deck, which were lovely. The bathroom and kitchen are looking a little tired from ordinary wear and tear, but I still think the Terraces deserves five stars and would recommend it to everyone.
