Barrier Beach Resort - Adults Only

Our Fare opened right onto the beach, so getting to the warm water was just a short stroll. We had a great time snorkelling, and it was handy having kayaks and paddle boards included. The food had plenty of choices and was really good. Everyone was very friendly, including the managers, Sean and Janine. It was such a relaxing place to stay, and we’ll definitely return.

We spent a magnificent week at BBR and can’t find a single complaint or even a useful suggestion for improving it. Everything was spot on, from the rooms and amenities to the hospitality, food and service. Each day we could spend hours snorkelling among beautiful coral, with turtles and dugongs to see. The team helped arrange whatever we asked for, including tours and taxis, and everything was fairly priced. Having the resort’s bikes, snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddle boards available made the holiday feel complete.

Air Vanuatu suddenly stopped operating and canceled every flight, which meant we couldn’t travel for reasons entirely outside our control. This was a widely documented airline shutdown, not a change in our personal plans. We contacted the hotel straight away to explain, but they wouldn’t offer a refund or make any attempt to work with us. I know hotels have policies, but a situation like an airline going out of business calls for some reasonable judgment. The response showed no goodwill or understanding, and the lack of empathy and customer service was shocking. I’ve never seen such unwillingness to help when a guest has no control over what happened. Future travelers should take this into account before booking.

Catherine and her team made it easy to organise activities, tours and taxis, and the food was another highlight. There were lots of choices, and everything we tried was tasty. The specials are worth checking out. The managers, Janine and Shaun, and the rest of the staff were lovely and helpful throughout. They communicated well from the beginning to the end and were always friendly and ready to answer questions. The property and rooms were very clean and well looked after, which made for a comfortable, relaxing holiday. We had a fantastic time and would happily stay again. Highly recommend!
