My partner and I stayed for a week and would happily recommend this place. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable, the food pretty good, and the service excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and the WiFi was much faster and more reliable than local 4G. Getting around was easy. Local buses pick you up almost straight away from the big stop outside the supermarket and go anywhere in Port Villa for a flat 150 Vatu per person, about $1.80AUD. The medium-sized supermarket next door is handy for daily essentials and cold drinks, and there are ATMs for several banks. A Western Union is a five-minute walk away and had the best currency exchange rates available. Say hi to Harry, the very friendly local ginger rodent patrol and breakfast companion :)

The staff were lovely, but I was disgusted with the unit and wouldn’t stay there again. It was falling apart, and I sent the office a full page of issues. There was no hot water, the blinds had fallen apart, and the bedroom fan only worked on high and sounded like a plane taking off. The stair light was out, and the cupboard hinges were rusty. It took two days and a reminder before the hot water was fixed.

The gardens are amazing, and it’s a beautiful place to stay. Rose at reception greeted me and looked after me. I love the ni-van staff, always welcoming, cheerful, and smiling. My favorite daytime thing was watching locals fish and children laugh in the lagoon.

Ann and the rest of the staff were wonderful, welcoming, and helpful during our fantastic stay at MG cocoon. It’s close to the beach and all amenities, so the location worked perfectly for us. Highly recommend, and we’d definitely return!

The people around the bar and kitchen were lovely. The resort is quite old and needs work, which they were doing while we were there. They might get people to stay longer with a simpler, smaller menu.
