John, his wife Silvana, and their team made our stay at Rockwater Tanna feel effortless from booking through checkout. They even added Chinese dishes to the menu when they learned we were from China, a thoughtful touch that made us feel at home. I also loved chatting with John; he’s funny and has so many fascinating stories. I only wish I spoke English more fluently, because I could have talked with him all day and night. We came to see the volcano, and John arranged a well organized tour at a reasonable price. We were lucky enough to see the eruption, which I’ll never forget. I booked through the official website and found the prices stable compared with third party sites, the layout clear, and the tours easy to see at fair rates. The scenery is stunning and peaceful, and the local staff are humble, hardworking, and clearly care about making guests comfortable. Staying here made the trip easier and let us focus on nature and the hospitality. I wholeheartedly recommend Rockwater Tanna. Thanks again to John, Silvana, and everyone there for making our trip special.

November 2025 The gardens at Rockwater Resort are lovely to wander through, and the quiet, secluded setting makes it feel like an authentic island escape with some luxury. The owners are long term Tanna residents, so they can share local knowledge about activities and places to visit, and they take a personal interest in making guests comfortable. Built right into volcanic cliff rock, the place feels unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed. You can see the care and craftsmanship in the details, and the resort is built to withstand cyclones.

At Rockwater, you can learn a lot about Tanna from the owner, and they can arrange volcano, Blue Cave, and cultural village tours at reasonable prices. The place has its own local Tanna Volcano style, with beautiful architecture that feels sustainable and friendly to the area. It’s a real first class hideaway, very different from the Hiltons or Marriotts you find around the world. Enjoy the experience for yourself.

The coral reefs right in front of Rockwater Resort make it a dream for snorkeling or diving, and the resort feels like a hidden gem on Tanna Island. Silvana and John were so friendly and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We booked trips through them to the Blue Cave and Mount Yasur Volcano, and both were unforgettable. It’s one of the best places I’ve stayed.

We loved exploring the water from Rockwater. A path leads down to a little cave you can swim through to reach the sea, where we saw amazing coral and fish, plus a spotted ray swimming past. The grounds and resort are stunning, our suites were spotless and wonderful, and all the meals were delicious. The staff were lovely and the service was exceptional. A breathtaking place to stay while discovering Tanna.
