Hotel Millenia Samoa

The staff are always welcoming, and the atmosphere and service are lovely. We often come for pre-drinks, and I have no complaints about the nightlife. My mum and I book a room here the night before flying back, or I stay with my son. The staff carry our heavy luggage up without complaint, and the security is especially reassuring when it's just me and him. They also let me use their freezer for food we're taking home. Faafetai tele lava, guys. I don't usually eat pasta in Samoa, just my personal preference, but the pasta at Hotel Millenia is so tasty and the portions are huge. I'm a big eater and it's plenty. I recommend eating here, especially the pasta. The ocean view is a lovely bonus.

We went for lunch and caught their deal, any main meal had $10 taken off between 12pm and 2pm. The food was good, and the woman who served us was awesome. It’s right by the water, so there was a lovely breeze.

We decided to leave a night early and stay elsewhere. We used to be regular customers, but it feels like the hotel has lost the good reputation it once had. We had trouble with being put in rooms we hadn't asked for before, and this time the room we finally requested looked very unclean. The shower and toilet had a strong stale urine smell. The air conditioning leaked and left a huge puddle. I called Reception, was told someone would come check it, but nobody did. We spent the night without using it in case the leak got worse. Bar music was so loud it went past the supposed cutoff, and people were shouting and yelling, making it hard to rest or sleep. It felt like a nightclub. The pools were green with lots of algae and looked unsafe. These are some of the things we noticed. It seems more effort goes into running a nightclub than looking after hotel guests. Very sad to see. We won't be back.

We found rats in our room, and some jewellery went missing during our stay, which was alarming. The pool also had broken tiles that cut our children's feet, a serious safety problem. Cleanliness was poor: even after the room was supposedly cleaned, there was visible dust under the bed, and the showers had mould and built-up grime. At the front desk, some of the women were unfriendly and made us feel like a burden when we asked for basics like towels and extra toilet paper. It came across as stingy and unprofessional. The security guys were much friendlier and easier to approach, which we appreciated. This stay fell well below basic standards and our expectations. I hope management takes these problems seriously and makes improvements.
