I appreciated being able to use the kitchen to make my own meals, and they catered for my gluten-free vegan diet too. Lisha was friendly and really helpful throughout my stay at Broadlands.

The gardens are spacious, with old trees that provide welcome shade, and there’s a pool and braai area too. From the room’s four-poster bed and crisp white linen to the ball-and-claw bath, walk-in shower, and sitting area, everything felt comfortable and luxurious. The house sits beside a peaceful dam full of birdlife, including herons, weavers, ducks, and swallows. It’s also surrounded by citrus trees in bloom, and the orange blossom scent is incredible. Breakfast was delicious, especially with the fresh orange juice. Lisha’s service was outstanding. This lovely 100-year-old home is a great place for a getaway, and I’d happily recommend it.

There’s good food and company here, and the setting is lovely. We were lucky to visit during fruit-picking season and got freshly picked oranges, naartjies, and lemons. The hosts are stars at making your stay memorable. It’s a real gem in the fertile Sunday's river valley basin. Just enjoy it.
