The bathroom is laid out well, and the unit was neat and clean. Security was helpful too. The main issue was the heat. Open windows helped when there was a breeze, but strong wind howled through them; with them closed, the ceiling fans just moved hot air around. The bedroom fan was unbalanced, so its chains kept clicking against the light. It got so bad I tried sleeping in the sitting room. The unit really needs air-conditioning. We'd searched for a two-bedroom place in Ballito, and the La Ballito 13th floor listing showed two bedrooms and one bathroom, which seemed fine since my son was only joining us on Saturday night after returning from China. But when we arrived, it wasn't really a two-bedroom unit: there was one enclosed bedroom, then two bunk beds in the space between the bedroom and bathroom, with no door for privacy. I hope the host takes this as constructive criticism.

There's convenient access to the Checkers centre next door on foot through a security gate, and the sea views are nice if you're above the 5th floor. The block is well maintained, with good security, ample garden and braai areas, and a decent-sized swimming pool plus a well-kept kiddies pool.

Right by the beach, with lovely holiday apartments. Seems great for a family or for travelling solo.

Loved this beautiful place. Everything else was perfect, though the wifi gave us trouble.
