The owner was very accommodating, and the unit had lots of space. Getting to the beach was easy, with shops and restaurants nearby too. Great location.

The location is very good and the place looked clean at first, but it smelled strongly of damp the whole time. There was a big cockroach in the bathroom when we arrived, and the toilet seats weren't even fitted properly. It was advertised with air conditioning, but the aircon didn't work. There was no Wi-Fi, which should be essential these days. The listing also promised two free cleanings, but when it came to the second one, we were asked to pay. Watch out for that kind of catch. At 9:30, the owner was waiting outside our door to make us leave because another booking was coming in, so we had to rush out.

We had a few relaxed days at La Pirogue. The place is very spacious, and the gardens and pools were immaculate. It's only a block from the beach, though getting an Uber or Taxify down there was nearly impossible. If you want a drink with dinner, there are two restaurants within walking distance.

The apartment at 55 LA Pirogue Ballito had plenty of space, though there was a musty smell. We booked through an agent, but the owner showed up at 9am on Sunday and rudely told us to leave as soon as possible because he had another booking. There was no Wi-Fi or Netflix, and we had to call the agent to get DSTV.
