Charming 3-bed House in Beaufort West

After a very long day of driving, we just needed somewhere to sleep. Hauz Holzapfel found us a room at night on very short notice and welcomed us warmly when we arrived. We had coffee, tea and milk in the room, and the comfortable beds and air-conditioning made for a good night's rest. Exactly what we needed. Thanks for the great service and hospitality.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, and check-in was quick and friendly. There's no food on site, but they work with nearby restaurants, including a pizza place that delivers. Our room looked out on the pool, which was very clean, though too shallow for diving. There are braai facilities too. The air-conditioning was much needed in the Karoo summer. It's a small town, so everything is only a few kilometres away. A real gem, and I'd happily stay again and recommend it to other travellers.

The King Suite was roomy, quiet and well maintained. After a long day on the road, I slept so well on the bedding and mattress. The owner gave me a warm welcome, and I loved finding German filter coffee in the room.

The place felt poorly maintained, and the host was extremely hostile. When I tried to talk through my concerns, she hung up on me, and I left within an hour. Perhaps this isn't a good place for people of colour. If you're carrying luggage, avoid an upstairs room, the stairs are treacherous.
